Gerry S. Samson, DDS
Described as an educational entertainer, Dr. Gerry Samson completed pediatric dental residency at Emory University in 1979 and orthodontics at Northwestern University in 1981.  Gerry has been in private orthodontic practice and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Fellow of The American College of Dentists.  In addition to orthodontic private practice, Dr. Samson is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Associate Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, at Case Western University Department of Orthodontics and at St. Louis University Department of Orthodontics.  He is visiting lecturer for orthodontic post-graduate programs at 8 universities in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and China.  In addition, Gerry reviews orthodontic mechanics articles submitted for publication to Angle Orthodontist.

Alan Bagden, DMD
Dr. Bagden graduated from Lafayette College in 1975 and was accepted at the prestigious dental school of the University of Pennsylvania. After fulfilling a military obligation with the United States Public Health Service, he was accepted as an orthodontic resident at the University of Maryland.  In 2000 Dr. Bagden performed clinical trials and research on the Damon System of orthodontic treatment and concluded that it was the most efficient type of orthodontic treatment available. He then began working closely with Dr. Damon to further refine the technique and has been instrumental in advancing use of the Damon system within the orthodontic profession. Drs. Damon and Bagden conduct seminars worldwide instructing doctors on the proper utilization of the Damon system. In addition to his clinical involvement with this project, Dr. Bagden is also Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.  He has served as President of the Virginia Association of Orthodontists and the Northern Virginia Dental Society. He has been inducted in the Pierre Fauchard Honorary Dental Society and the American College of Dentists in recognition of his contribution to the profession. Dr. Bagden is a frequent lecturer at the University of Maryland Orthodontic Residency program and the National Children's Hospital Center Orthodontic residency program.

Robert R. Winter, DDS
Dr. Winter maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics in Newport Beach, California and is a member of the graduate prosthodontics faculty at the University of Washington and the University of Southern California and is on faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine.  He has taught more than 450 didactic, clinical, and technical courses in more than 35 countries and is the founder of the Oral-Facial Design Center, an educational facility in Newport Beach, where he teaches a series of clinical and technical educational courses.  In addition, Dr. Winter has published numerous articles and sits on the advisory boards for the Journal of Restorative  Dentistry, Advanced Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, the International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry, Advanced Esthetics and Interdisciplinary Dentistry, and Dental Dialogue.  He is co-owner of Esthetics by Design, a quality-oriented dental laboratory, and is actively involved in research and product development pertaining to new dental materials.

Richard D. Roblee, DDS, MS
Dr. Roblee practiced general restorative dentistry in Dallas, Texas, before going back to study graduate orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry.  He is renowned for his work in esthetic dentistry, orthodontic techniques and interdisciplinary therapy.  He has given more than 250 professional presentations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan.  Dr. Roblee is the author of numerous publications and video tapes, including a textbook entitled Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy;  A Comprehensive Approach to Optimal Patient Care (Quintessence Publishing Co., Inc.).  He is an associate clinical professor at Baylor College of Dentistry in both the restorative department and the orthodontic department and is an active member in numerous prestigious dental organizations, including the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.  Dr. Roblee is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and maintains a full-time practice in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with an emphasis on esthetic and interdisciplinary therapy.

E. Patrick Allen, DDS, PhD
Dr. Allen is clinical professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry and is in full-time private practice in Dallas, Texas.  He is past president of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.  He is founder and director of the Center for Advanced Dental Education in Dallas, Texas where he teaches surgical-technique courses.

Hisham Badawi, DDS, MSc, PhD
Dr. Badawi joined the University of London's Eastman Dental Institute (the most prestigious European dental school), where he obtained his masters in Orthodontics MSc in 2001. In 2002 he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland MOrth RCSEdin. Dr. Badawi held a teaching position as assistant professor at the University of Manitoba.  In addition to his private practice, Dr. Badawi provides consulting, research and development services to some of the most prominent companies and manufacturers of orthodontic materials and braces.  He currently lectures worldwide on efficient orthodontic biomechanics protocols, which results in significant reduction in treatment time.

James McNamara, DDS, MS, PhD
Dr. McNamara serves as the Thomas M. and Doris Graber Endowed Professor of Dentistry in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan.  He is also a professor of cell and developmental biology in the School of Medicine and is a research professor at the Center for Human Growth and Development there.

Rita Johnson, COA, RDH, MA
Rita Johnson is a former treatment coordinator in a private orthodontic practice and a former professor at Middlesex Community College where she received the Outstanding Faculty Recognition Award and is currently employed by Brontes Technologies.  She is also the recipient of the award for Volunteer Contributions for Auxiliaries given by the Massachusetts Dental Society.  Rita has written RDH curriculum, has vast experience in the area of practice management and is a specialist in the field of orthodontics.

Ellen Gambardella, DCA, MEd
Ellen Gambardella is the director of Dental Assisting at the Minuteman School of Applied Arts and Sciences in Lexington, Massachusetts.  The Massachusetts Dental Society presented her with the “Special Award for Teaching of the Year”.  She is also the recipient of the Goldin Foundation Award for Excellence in Education and has been appointed by the licensure exams for Massachusetts.  A former faculty member of Tufts and Northeastern Universities, Ellen has lectured nationwide, is an author and a specialist in the field of accelerated learning.

Gerard J. Chiche, DDS
Gerard J. Chiche, DDS, is the Helmer Professor and chairman of the Prosthodontics Department of Louisiana State University.  He also maintains an intramural restorative practice devoted to esthetics and implants.  Dr. Chiche has presented more than 500 programs nationally and internationally and is a member of the American College of Dentists, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.  He is past president of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the author of Smile Design:  A Guide for Clinician, Ceramist, and Patient (Quintessence, 2004); and the coauthor of Esthetics of Anterior Fixed Prosthodontics (Quintessence, 1994).

Lynn C. Fales
Ms. Fales is an orthodontic consultant and software developer.  She loves sharing her enthusiasm for orthodontics and technology.

George Priest, DMD
For more than twenty years, Dr. George Priest has been a leader in the fields of esthetic and implant dentistry. Dr. Priest earned a BS from the University of Tennessee in 1972, and then returned to his home state of New Jersey where he received his DMD, with honors, from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry in 1976. After three years in the U.S. Army, he pursued graduate training in prosthodontics at Emory University in Atlanta, completing his residency in 1981. For the next ten years, Dr. Priest remained involved at Emory as a clinical instructor and special lecturer in graduate fixed prosthodontics and implant dentistry. He became a Board Certified Prosthodontist in 1985. During the Gulf War, he provided prosthodontic care for military personnel as an Army reservist. Dr. Priest maintained a full-time practice in Atlanta, GA for more than 25 years before moving his practice to the north end of Hilton Head Island, SC.

R.G. (Wick) Alexander, DDS, MSD
As author, lecturer and researcher, Dr. Alexander is a clinical professor at Baylor University, the University of Texas and New York University.  He also is in private family practice in Arlington, Texas.

Charlene White, BS
Ms. White has a unique talent to inform, motivate and entertain.  She is in demand by orthodontic professionals throughout the United States, Canada and abroad.  Her reputation as a management expert and dynamic speaker has soared, aided by overwhelmingly positive results reported by her audiences.

Greggory A. Kinzer, DDS, MSD
Dr. Kinzer serves as affiliate assistant professor in the Graduate Prosthodontic program at the University of Washington School of Dentistry.  He also serves on the editorial review board for Quintessence International as well as Advanced Esthetics and Interdisciplinary Dentistry.  He maintains a private practice in Seattle, Washington limited to comprehensive restorative and esthetic dentistry.

Vincent O. Kokich., Jr., DMD, MSD
Dr. Kokich is an affiliate assistant professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Washington and maintains a private practice in Tacoma, Washington.  He received the Richard Delson Award for Periodontics and Prosthodontics in 1996 and the Charles L. Pincus Award for Clinical Research from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry in 1999.  His current research and publications are primarily involved with esthetic Interdisciplinary dentistry.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a founding member of the Northwest Network for Interdisciplinary Dentistry.  He is also a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and an instructor at the Charles H. Tweed Foundation in Tucson, Arizona.

Jim Janakievski, DDS, MSD
Dr. Janakievski received his DDS from the University of Toronto, which was followed by a general-practice residency.  His post-graduate training was completed at the University of Washington where he received a certificate in periodontology with an MSD and a fellowship in prosthodontics.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, serves as an affiliate assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology at the University of Washington, and maintains a private practice in Tacoma, Washington.

Jay Bowman
Dr. Bowman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a charter-member of the World Federation of Orthodontists and is a Regent of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation. He developed and teaches the Straightwire course at the University of Michigan and he is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Saint Louis University. He has over 50 articles published and has lectured in over a dozen countries (Brazil, France, Tunisia, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Caribbean).

Lysle Johnston, DDS, MS, PhD, FDS
During the course of his 30 year academic career, Dr. Johnston has advised approximately 100 master’s theses and has contributed to the education of more than 300 orthodontic specialists.  He has lectured widely and is the recipient of the Albert H. Ketcham Award of the American Board of Orthodontics, the 5th International Award of the Italian Society and the Dewel Award of the American Association of Orthodontists.  He has delivered the Mershon and Salzmann Lectures of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Angle Memorial Lecture of the E. H. Angle Society of Orthodontists (twice), the Northcroft Lecture of the British Society for the Study of Orthodontics, and the Arthur Thornton Taylor Memorial Lecture of the Australian Society of Orthodontics.  A Fellow of the American and International College of Dentistry and a Fellow in dental surgery by election of the Royal College of Surgeons (England), Dr. Johnston was a member of the Oral Biology and Medicine Student Section of the National Institute of Health and was a director of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists.

Rita Bauer
Throughout her career, Ms. Bauer has provided photographic material for educational purposes and taught clinical photography to staff and students at the University of Toronto.  With over 700 presentations and workshops on the subject, Rita has become recognized as a leading authority and divides her time at the University and lecturing internationally.  She specializes in making digital photography easily accessible for dentists and their staff and in transforming inexperienced photographers into enthusiastic, competent digital camera users.  She has received Honorary Memberships as a Fellow of the International College of Dental Surgeons and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society.

Ward Smalley, DDS, MSD
Ward Smalley is a fixed periodontal prosthodontist and board certified orthodontist in Seattle, Washington,  He teaches part-time at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in the Departments of Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the graduate level.  He also teaches at the Kois Center in Seattle.  He received his DDS from the University of Washington in 1977.  He earned a Certificate in Fixed Prosthodontics and an MSD at the University of Washington in 1984.  In 1986, also at the University of Washington, he received a Certificate in Orthodontics and a second MSD Faculty position at the University of Washington and is currently Affiliate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and the Department of Restorative Dentistry. 

DeWitt C. Wilkerson, DMD
DeWitt Wilkerson, D.M.D. is chairman of the Dawson Foundation and has been in private practice with Dr. Dawson since 1982, the year he graduated from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry. His practice focuses on Restorative Dentistry, Occlusal Problems, and Temporomandibular Disorders.  Dr. Wilkerson is the current President of the American Equilibration Society (2010-2011). He serves as the Chairman of the Dawson Foundation. He is an active member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American Dental Association, and the Christian Medical/Dental Association. He is an Adjunct Professor, at the University of Florida, College of Dentistry. He has formerly served as an Associate Faculty member and Special Lecturer at the L.D. Pankey Institute. Dr. Wilkerson lectures extensively at national, regional, and study group meetings across the United States and abroad.

Galip Gurel, DDS, MS
Galip Gurel, DDS, MS, maintains a private practice specializing in esthetic dentistry in Istanbul, Turkey.  He is the founder and current president of the Turkish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry.  Dr. Gurel serves as editor-in-chief of the Turkish edition of Quintessence International and is on the editorial board of several other journals.  He is the author of The Science and the Art of Porcelain Laminate Veneers (Quintessence, 2003).  A pioneer in his field, he lectures extensively around the world.
