President’s Message

On behalf of the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists’ officers and Board of Directors, please let me extend an early spring greeting to each of you. It is my honor and privilege to serve as your president for 2018. I appreciate this tremendous opportunity and the confidence you have given me to help lead our great organization.

Our NESO Ad Interim meeting was held on March 3-4, 2018 in Boston, MA. The day and a half was spent approving our operating and annual meeting budgets along with hearing reports from our officers, committee chairs and our NESO trustee, John Callahan. We also discussed and considered needed changes to our by-laws and policies of our society. We should all be very thankful for the hard work and dedication given by our members who volunteer their time on our board and various committees that help run our organization. My hope is that each of you considers how you can contribute to our profession and volunteer at the local, component or constituent levels. There is always a position available based on your interests and I would encourage you to contact me directly if interested. NESO stands to benefit from your involvement. As the 2018 AAO annual session in Washington, DC approaches, our NESO delegates met and reviewed the motions that will be presented at the 2018 House of Delegates in May. NESO has always had a strong delegation that has the best interest of the AAO and its members first and foremost.

Mark your calendars for the 2018 NESO Annual Meeting to be held at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT on November 2-3. Our meeting promises to be different and “out of the box” compared to other annual meetings. Speakers include: Jamie Reynolds, Jeff Kozlowski, Chris Bentson, Aaron Molen, Glen Krieger, Jason Kaplan, Jonathan Nicozisis, Maz Moshiri, Kyle Fagala, Neal Kravitz, Char Eash, Mari Sawtelle-Dunn, Jep Paschal, and Anil Idiculla. You won’t want to miss this unique meeting and further details will follow shortly.

Thank you again for allowing me to represent NESO. If you have any questions or want to be involved in activities that impact our specialty, do not hesitate to contact me at 716-713-9731.

All my best in 2018.

– Sal Manente, NESO President
