During the month of October we take the time to celebrate National Orthodontic Health Month by spreading awareness about the benefits of orthodontic treatment (For more information about Orthodontic Health Month visit AAO.org). However, we also share October with a very special cause, Breast Cancer Awareness.
Pink ribbons are appearing everywhere as support is shown nationwide for breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a health campaign implemented every October to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into it’s cause, prevention diagnosis, treatment and cure. The goal of Breast Cancer Awareness is to offer information and support to those affected by the disease.
It is important that the masses are informed about breast cancer, it is a disease that affects many. Studies say that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. In spite of this fact, breast cancer isn’t exclusive to women. Men are also affected by this diease. Many of us know of someone who has been diagnoised with or has a family member that has been affected by breast cancer. It is important that we encourage and support those affected, and there are various ways you can help this cause.
