Dr. Christopher Murphy

Who is Dr. Chris Murphy? A little background on you, your education, what you like to do, and maybe about your practice/academia.
Hi I’m Dr Chris Murphy. I grew up in Plymouth, MA and went to the University of Connecticut for dental school and orthodontic residency. I worked as an associate following graduation and purchased my practice in Southern Maine in 2018. When I’m not at the office I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors and practicing Jiu Jitsu.
How did you first become involved in NESO?
I first became involved with NESO during my residency. I participated in a leadership program and loved the NESO community and the support it provided me as a new grad.
What do you hope to achieve this year, what’s your vision for NESO and for the meeting?
My goal this year is to bring on an associate at my practice, spend more time with my family, and surf more. I’m really excited for the NESO meeting at Bonita Springs this year. I’m looking forward to hearing from great speakers like Sebastian Baumgaertel, Dan Bills, Christine Jackson & Neil Kravitz share their insights on treating complex cases. And my kids are pumped for the pool!
Why is it important to get involved within NESO?
NESO membership has been very important to me. The resources provided have helped shape my practice and given me confidence as a practice owner. The representation at the state and federal level are critical to our continued success as a profession. We are certainly stronger as a unified voice advocating for our patients and practices.
Any advice to residents, or new and young members?
I highly recommended becoming involved with NESO early on and attending meetings. The benefits you’ll receive as a member far outweigh the cost of membership. Not to mention the valuable mentorship and networking opportunities you’ll gain in the process.
