Solventum: A new era for orthodontic innovation

Solventum’s recent launch as an independent company, following its separation from 3M, marks a pivotal new chapter for orthodontics. While the name is new, Solventum’s mission remains unchanged: to deliver trusted technologies, exceptional service, and breakthrough solutions for beautiful, healthy smiles. This transition builds on over 75 years of 3M innovation, ensuring continuity in the products and people orthodontic professionals rely on—including innovations like Clarity™ Aligners, Clarity™ Precision Grip Attachments, and Clarity™ Digital Bonding.

The name Solventum, derived from “solving” and “momentum,” reflects a renewed focus on nimble, imaginative problem-solving and a continued commitment to improving patient outcomes through next-generation dental solutions.

Accelerating innovation

As a standalone company, Solventum is embracing a more responsive, forward-looking approach to innovation. For orthodontics, this means accelerating the development of smart, integrated solutions that enhance both clinical outcomes and workflow efficiency. Products like Clarity Aligners, Clarity Precision Grip Attachments, and Clarity Digital Bonding are all built with direct clinician input to address real-world challenges. Solventum is also investing in the intersection of material science, data, and digital tools to power the next generation of personalized, precise, and efficient orthodontic care.

This strategic shift empowers Solventum to bring innovations to market faster and in closer collaboration with orthodontic professionals worldwide.

Spotlight on Clarity Precision Grip Attachments and Clarity Digital Bonding

Clarity Precision Grip Attachments and Clarity Digital Bonding were recently highlighted at the AAO Annual Session as key examples of Solventum’s commitment to redefining orthodontic care. Clarity Digital Bonding combines digital treatment planning with APC™ Flash-Free Brackets, ensuring accurate bracket placement and a reduction in inefficiencies. Clinicians can expect to save up to six months of treatment time, reduce repositioning appointments by up to 1.2 per case, and save up to 19 minutes of doctor time per bonding appointment*—meaningful improvements for busy practices.

Clarity Precision Grip Attachments are the first 3D-printed, fully cured, pre-loaded attachments for aligner treatment. They eliminate the variability and cleanup associated with conventional attachments. Clinical evaluations show doctors save an average of 12 minutes per bonding appointment, with improved aligner tracking and fewer refinements. Nearly 90% of doctors preferred the Grip system over their previous method.*

These innovations reflect Solventum’s broader strategy: solving real-world clinical challenges with technology that improves consistency, streamlines workflow, and supports excellent outcomes. Solventum is building a connected ecosystem to help orthodontists deliver confident, efficient care from start to finish.

Supporting modern orthodontic practices

Solventum is committed to supporting orthodontic practices through smart, digital solutions that adapt to clinician needs. At the heart of this is Clarity™ Portal—a cloud-based platform that streamlines workflows across treatment types. From designing custom cases in the Tx Designer to managing Clarity Aligners, Clarity Digital Bonding, and Clarity Retainer cases in one place, Clarity Portal helps practices stay efficient and focused on patient care.

Continuous customer feedback drives ongoing enhancements, such as the new virtual roots feature in Clarity Portal, which provides clinicians with more insight and control when reviewing and approving orthodontic cases.

Partnerships and digital integration

Solventum’s integration with Grin enables direct upload of information from Grin to Clarity Portal, streamlining workflows and keeping orthodontic professionals more connected with patients throughout treatment. Grin’s platform specializes in remote monitoring, efficient record-taking, and virtual consultations, reducing the need for in-office visits while enhancing communication. Clinicians have full control over which Grin images are transferred, and all uploaded records remain securely stored in the patient’s Clarity Portal file.

This integration is just one example of how Solventum is advancing innovation to better support modern orthodontic practices by bringing together smart technology and clinical expertise to deliver meaningful improvements in care.
